**Finalist in the 2015 National Indie Excellence Book Awards for LGBT Fiction** **Winner of the Gold Medal in the 2014 Global Ebook Awards in Gay / Lesbian / LGBT Fiction** **Indie Book of the Day – April 19, 2013** The last time Maggie Campbell and Alexandra Blake worked together, they both received two-week suspensions. This time...it's worse. When a boy is kidnapped from a London park, Detective Inspectors Alex Blake and Maggie Campbell are brought together to work on the case. While their goal is the same, their work ethics are not. Intelligent, perceptive and at times disobedient, Alex Blake does what she believes it takes to do her job. Maggie Campbell has a slightly different approach. She believes that rule books were written for a reason. Unexpectedly, their dynamics mesh, but when her feelings for Alex become stronger than she wants to admit, Maggie provokes the worst in Alex to ensure that they will never be partners again. Three years later, fate brings them together again. Their assignment is simple, but a plane crash gets in their way. Now, in the middle of a blizzard, they have to try to survive...and fight the feelings that refuse to die.

I love stories that walk the fine line between love and hate. An attraction and a passion that is fiery and fierce. The battle of wills and the inevitable loss of control as they give into the attraction that drives them nearly mad. The change from facing off against each other to facing love and life together. The characters were up against all odds but, in this case, love really does conquer all. This is my second read through and I enjoyed it even more than the first...However, I still would have liked...
More flashbacks from when they were partnered before. I think without more flashbacks to them fighting with one another and fighting their desire we missed out on some great foreplay. A tad more verbal sparring on the plane would have been fun too.
I also would have loved seeing them come out to their coworkers great surprise. It could have been quite a comedic opportunity.
I surely would have also enjoyed more of a reunion with Alex and her dad with her confessing she had burned pages of his book.
I would have loved a scene between Maggie and Paige somehow.
Overall, the book is enjoyable it just left me wanting more, in a good way.

Ice Lyn Gardner 9781519261144 Books Reviews
Alex and Maggie both love their careers as they are both dedicated detectives trying to make their worlds a better place. They meet and each is immediately attracted to the other, but they find ways to deny their feelings for over three years, until this special assignment brings them back together again. I really enjoyed this book, the character development, nothing seemed to be left out as you truly understood where both ladies were coming from and their collective experiences/backgrounds that drove them to their selected profession.
This is the third book by Lyn Gardner that I have read, yes I admit I have read them out of publication order, and I have enjoyed each of them. Lyn's books really put together a whole story, from beginning to end, not just two women meet and suddenly jump into bed together.
I cannot wait for her next book, yet I would like to see her move slightly away from her four common signature themes, but please don't that this as criticism directed at this author. Just as another author seems to always build up to the where her characters kiss and one says "mine" and the other responses "yours", I have found four things in common with each of her books. A confirmed lesbian woman falls for a woman who appears to be straight, the so-called straight girls is always shorter than her eventual soul mate, the smaller women tends to have auburn color hair and is Scottish, and they complete their relationships by having children together.
After reading BORN OUT OF WEDLOCK and loving it, I immediately sought out another work by this author. I immediately read ICE in one sitting. I liked the story and the fact that there is minimal angst. It was a quick, easy read. I would have liked a little more length to the story, but appreciated the epilogue. Without it, the ending would have been too abrupt.
This is a unique and thoroughly enjoyable take on the old trope of getting stranded in a cabin with a person you hate.
It's a bit unbelievable that this is the authors first publishing attempt. Anyhow, Alex and Maggie are two of London's finest detective inpectors who happen to dislike each other immensely. They unfortunately get stranded in the middle of nowhere when an awful ice and snow storm comes their way. Maggie also happens to be gravely ill and Alex has to make sure she keeps her alive while also taking care of her own medical needs.
The rest you'll need to read.
Took 3 weeks to read it as I kept getting bored and put it down. There's very little world building here; 99% of the book is a cabin. The characters love each other based on little more than physical attraction. Alex comes across as superwoman, overcoming a severe injury while carrying out physical tasks on par with a Green Beret. Oh yeah, and she's a fitness fanatic who smokes. Blegh! Maggie is incapacitated for a week but pops up and regains her strength in a day. Really?! Characters declare their love and after multiple beddings, the conclusion is super simple, hunky_dory, everything is saccharin sweet. Deleted from the .
Talk about taking it too fast. Perhaps Give Me a Reason was the work with all the corrections and learning from the mistake that is Ice. This book is cute and all, but it really asks the reader to pretended take a huge leap of faith, and I'm not talking about the rescue part. Nothing else was said and done about the pilot and the quickness of everything made this work feel so generic and rookie stamped. I guess I know where the Give Me a Reason Characters came from. I supposed running out of ideas isn't a bad thing when you could perfect them elsewhere. There are better books of this genre that are out there. You wouldn't be looking any sleep over this one.
